The story (Paradise Adventures) I have been visiting Costa Rica for eight years now and from my first arrival knew Costa Rica was the place I wanted to call home. I fell in love with the people, culture, surf, lush tropical landscapes and beautiful beaches. Round 1: December 12, 2005 I headed out December 12, 2005 from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to Tampa Bay, Florida to ship the boat to Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. After that, I would make my way through the Southern States, down through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, and finally arrive in Costa Rica. This trip was over 10,000klm and luckily, I had no problems during 20-day drive. It was a beautiful drive down the Pan American Highway, so many beaches and beautiful landscapes. I would make this trip again, however not any time soon. Two weeks after staring at the boat parked in the drive way, I came up with and idea that allowed me to take the boat in and out of the ocean daily for cleaning and maintenance. I was warned of the wear factor of salt water on a fresh water boat before I left and I did not want to take any chances. I appeared to be in business! The boat was in the water and all I had to do was pay the taxes to obtain registration so I could operate out of Costa Rica legally... Long story short it took seven months to get a piece of paper worth 400 colones, which was only supposed to take 15 days. This was a huge set back, I did not plan on it taking this long .I had no choice but go back to Canada to replenish the funds and try again. Round 2: December 1, 2007 Upon returning, I put some serious thought into location, when I started replacing parts frequently and costly I realized something needed to be done; the ocean is not great for a fresh water boat. I have always thought of Nuevo Arenal as a beautiful place with such an amazing energy and I will never forget the feeling I had coming here with the boat for the first time. The lake is so beautiful lined with green hills, countless protected coves and bays, multiple boat launches situated all over the lake and not to mention a Volcano at each end of the lake and one of them is active.(Vulcan Arenal) Lake Arenal Costa Rica is a boaters and watersports enthusiast dream come true. Should you choose to experience this yourself, you know where to find Paradise Adventures Costa Rica. Pura Vida! Jonny T
